Recreational Team Coordinators
Running a successful recreational team is about having fun and maximizing the number of touches a player has on the ball. When it comes to reaching those goals, a team parent or coordinator can be a huge help to the coach in improving communication and coordination on the team.
Coaches want to focus on players. Coordinators help by focusing on the parents.
As a recreational team coordinator, you can help by:
- Setting up the team’s GroupMe channel. Here’s a “How to setup GroupMe guide” that may be helpful.
- Make sure that information is clearly shared with the parents about practices and game reminders times.
- Pick up jersey kit from the office and distribute it to the team (hint, smallest jersey to the smallest player).
- If your team wants to do a snack schedule, you could set it up or ask another parent if they would set it up (delegate).
- For younger teams, encourage parents to make a player tunnel at the end of games! Let both teams go through. Players love this!
- Remind parents not to sit on the practice fields (sit far on the edge because we need all the practice area)
- Find ways to encourage social and fun for the players and parents!
If you would be willing to help as the team coordinator, let your team’s head coach know.
