This in-person clinic portion of a student’s coursework includes practical exercises for aspiring candidates wishing to become U.S. Soccer Grassroots Referees. The goal is to prepare the candidates by offering a SAFE, FUN, and reality-based, holistic experience.
The purpose of the in-person session is to provide an opportunity to reinforce concepts and a knowledge base covered in the online grassroots coursework via practical exercises. The focus must be on preparing the referee candidate to be ready for the first game.
Eligibility
In order to certify as a First Time Grassroots Referee, you must meet the following national eligibility standards:
- 13 years or older
Course Requirements
First Time Grassroots Referees completing registration through the Learning Center must complete the following requirements.
- Online Grassroots Referee Course
- 2022-23 Laws of the Game Update
- First Time Grassroots Referee Quiz
- Introduction to Safe and Healthy Playing Environments
- SafeSport (if 18 years or older)
- U.S. Soccer Federation Gold Standard NCSI Background Check (if 18 years or older)

In-Person Field Session Schedule
This in-person field session is Saturday 2/11/2023 will start at 11:00 am. Please be at the Crossroads Park Soccer Fields, 6600 Research Lp, Temple, TX 76502 no later than 10:45 am. The session will last approximately 2 hours.
